People have wept at photographs of places they will never visit.
A child raised off Earth would grow up with oceans as footage and forests as description — a world present everywhere in language and nowhere in experience.
Whether that produces homesickness or simply curiosity is not obvious.
Long-duration crews already report an altered relationship to Earth, often described after seeing it from orbit as a single small object.
For anyone born beyond it, Earth would arrive only as inherited image and story, the way distant history does.
How that shapes a person is unknown. No one has ever grown up anywhere else.
MISSING IS INHERITED
Longing travels through stories. People miss villages their grandparents left, languages they never spoke, weather they never stood in.
Earth would be transmitted the same way — as a described absence, felt precisely because it cannot be checked.

MISSING NEEDS MEMORY
You cannot lose what you never held. Without rain on your skin there is nothing to return to, only an idea.
